Bob has been a member ot the Halifax Congregational Church for over twenty-five years and has been directing the choir for nearly that long. He retired from the Rockland Public Schools in 2004 where he taught high school and middle school choruses, beginning band, and was the high school drama director. He also served as the Director of Music for the school system.
Bob has been active in community theatre off and on for over thirty years. Some of his favorite roles include Billy Bigelow (Carousel), Mayor Shinn (The Music Man), Captain von Trapp (The Sound of Music), and Rev. John Hale (The Crucible). He has also served as music director for community theatre in Duxbury, Hingham and Cohasset. Since his retirement he has also music directed shows at Middleboro High School and Marshfield High School.
Locally Bob served on the Halifax School Committee for thirteen years and runs a summer theatre program, On Stage, for elementary and middle school age students. At the church, in addition to music director, he serves as moderator, chairman of the Church Council, and co-chair of the Capital Campaign Committee. Among his hobbies are kayaking and photography.
Bob received his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a master's from Bridgewater State College. He also did course work at Hartt College of Music and Boston University.
He and his wife Candy have been married for thirty-five years and have lived in Halifax since 1976. They have three grown children and two grandchildren.
